After telling FightNews.com’s Nick Giongco Manny Pacquiao’s next fight date will be either June 9th or June 16th, Arum said the lucrative showdown with Floyd Mayweather will be perfect for November 2012, and not on May 5, 2012 because the MGM Grand can only hold 18,000 people and the Top Rank general insists a fight of historical magnitude must be staged at a bigger venue- to maximize revenue of course.

Sooooo many questions arise as Arum offers his reasonings. Here are few that popped in my mind:

  1. Why wait until now to tell the world you want a bigger venue for Mayweather Pacquiao? It’s been nearly 3 months since Manny’s last fight in November 2011! Team Mayweather and Top Rank could have surely decided on a  bigger venue- both sides love maximizing revenue.
  2. What venue does Arum have in mind? Maybe Cowboy’s stadium? If I remember correctly, Floyd wasn’t fond of “Jerry World.”
  3. “Arum World” cometh?: Arum has been quoted stating he’d like to construct a 40,000+ seat stadium to host his own events. Could this be part of his elaborate scheme? If so, I can’t hate on ya Bobby boy!

I’m not looking for conspiracy here people. I’m looking for things to make sense, damn it! Do you think the Mayweather-Pacquiao fight will happen in 2012 and where?
