QUEBEC CITY– Mixed emotions. That sums up the Lucian Bute vs Glen Johnson bout. Bute defended his IBF super-middleweight title against a 42 year old Glen Johnson with ease. Bute earned a decision in a one-sided performance that frankly left boxing fans with mixed emotions Saturday night. Despite Showtime’s efforts to over sell Bute’s win over a 42 year old Johnson as a major accomplishment, it was not.

Glen Johnson looked every bit of his age on Saturday night. He was not competitive at any time during the fight. He was a walking punching bag. What’s more disgraceful is the fact that Showtime made this a PPV event.

Bute, 31-years-old, improved to 30-0, winning all 12 rounds on two judges’ cards and 11 of 12 on the other in front of a crowd of 15,306 at the Colisee.

Johnson has lost 4 of his last 6 fights, 42-years-old, has now dropped to 51-16-2. Way to pick a quality opponent Bute, and Showtime… and what huge balls one must have to make this a PPV event.

Apparently delusion was running rampant with everyone involved in the PPV scam- including Johnson who actually said “I think I won the fight. I beat him with one hand.” I’m sorry Road Warrior. You didn’t win the fight.

Canadian super-bantamweight Steve Molitor improved to 34-2, outpointing Quebec fighter Sebastien Gauthier in a 10-round split decision. Though this fight was on the undercard, it was a pleasure watching Steve Molitor. He’s on his way up the ranks.

What’s next for Bute? We’re hoping Andre Ward.
